Location of the conference :

The conference is in TOLEDO Spain (and not Toledo Ohio USA) in the region of Castille-La Mancha ; the city is located at 100km from the center of Madrid.

It will take place in the faculty of law and social sciences at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, in San Pedro Mártir monestary in the historical center of Toledo.

Transport :

Nearest Airport to go go Toledo is Madrid Airport . All the countries are easily connected to Madrid, by many airlines companies (including the low cost companies) You can find all of the flights on AENA web (Aeropuertos Españoles y Navegación Aérea ).. To obtain a cheap price, you can consult E-Bookers website.

But you could also come by train (www.renfe.es)

To go to Toledo from the airport, the most comfortable si to rent a car (however, it will be quite difficult to park). You could find a list of (cheap) car rentals from the airport on Recar group website or value cars website (price is about 40 euros)

You could also rent a car on pepecar.com which is one of the cheapest car rentals. pepecar on line : 906 99 98 97

The website (in spanish) "alquiler coches" give you indicators to take the road to Toledo.

You can also take a taxi. Taxis in Spain are quite cheap. You would pay about 50 to 60 €. If you are 3 or four, it can be a good solution.

If you take the subway (1euro ) (line 8 stop "Nuevos Ministerios") until the town center, you have to take

- either the train "Regional Express" from the station "Nuevos Ministerios", but Toledo railway is far from the towncenter and you will have to take a car or a taxi

-or the bus from the road station to the subway station. Departures each 30 minutes. Ticket is about 3€. You would better take a taxi to go to the hostel (about 5 €)

History and Tourism

Listed as one of Unesco's world heritages sites, Toledo is one of the most historically, culturally important cities in Spain. By entering the city through one of the nine doors in the city hall, you could discover new historical monuments, passageway, staircase.

What to see in Toledo ?
The arrival of the Arabs in the 8th century, together with the presence of christian and jews made Toledo the city of three cultures. This mixture of the cultures has been reflected through artistic and cultural inheritance of Toledo.

The Alcazar, a palace and fortress is framed by four tours in the highest part of town

Synagogue El Transito, built in 1357.
Remains of the jewish community.

the impressive cathedral of Toledo, built in the 7th century, is a mix of gothic, muddier, baroque and neoclassical styles

The mosque ofCristo de la Luz, which predates the christian reconquest was built in 999 as a copy of the mosque at Cordoba.

Gastronomy and Catering :

Toledo's cuisine has various specialities based on game products like "stewed partridge", "Toledo - style quail" or "venison with wild mushrooms". With the other provinces of La Mancha, it shaves pisto (based on pepper, tomato and onion), castilla soup (with bread, garlic and ham) and migas (dish made with breadcrumbs and pork products).
This dishes may be accompanied with the wines of La Mancha and Méntrida, each with a denomination of origin. If you want to dring a red wine glass, order a "chato". Beer is often served. You can ask a "caña" (a glass for 1 €) or a "jarrita" or a "jarra" ( half a liter for 2 €) or a "tubo" (for 1,50€). It's useless to order a "botelin" (a 1,5 l bottle for 1€). To eat with, tapas of course or "pulgito" (half bocadillo)... Warning : tapas are served in "half ration" and "ration". You will have an entire meal.
